To celebrate our Mother’s Day maritozzi collaboration with home cook and mum of two Julia Busuttil Nishimura, we hosted an intimate cooking class at our Fitzroy Laboratorio.
Guests were greeted with a hot chocolate on arrival before experiencing a two-hour cooking class in our state-of-the-art commercial kitchen hosted by Julia herself alongside our co-founder Lisa Valmorbida.
They learned about the Italian tradition behind the maritozzi recipe from Julia’s cookbook while kneading and shaping maritozzi dough.
Guests got a sneak peek into the Pidapipó gelato-making process, watching a demonstration of how the panna and mochaccino gelatos are churned using fresh ingredients.
Of course, the class concluded with enjoying the maritozzi dessert at the end! Freshly-baked maritozzi was sliced down the middle and filled with two scoops of gelato, topped with towers of cloud-like whipped cream, house made mocha fudge sauce and finished with an Amarena cherry on top.
Guests left happy, joyful and with a gift bag containing a copy of Julia’s newest cookbook Good Cooking Every Day, a copy of Lisa’s cookbook Pidapipó: Gelato Eight Days a Week, a 500ml take-home tub of gelato and more maritozzi for later.
We will be hosting more cooking classes at our Fitzroy Laboratorio in the near future. Sign up to our newsletter and follow us on Instagram to be the first to know
